Scholarships for Underrepresented Students Interested in STEAM (Spring 2019 Deadlines)

I found this great online article about scholarships for underrepresented and minority students interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). If you are looking at going into one of these areas, then check out these scholarships!

Here is a quick overview on the types of scholarships that are available.

The National Honor Society Scholarship (up to $25,000) - Due December 7, 2018

Are you a member of the Iraan High School National Honor Society? As a member, are you in good standing? You maybe eligible to apply for the NHS Scholarship.

Student applications are due by December 7, 2018. The school's affiliation number is 00022865. A total of $2 million will be awarded among 600 scholarship winners, with the national winner receiving $25,000.

Imagine America Scholarships ($1,000) - Due December 31, 2018

Thiel Fellowship ($100,000) - Due December 31, 2018

The Thiel Fellowship was founded by technology entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel in 2011. The Thiel Fellowship is a two-year program for young people who want to build new things. Thiel Fellows skip or stop out of college to receive a $100,000 grant and support from the Thiel Foundation's network of founders, investors, and scientists. Approximately 20-30 awards are given each year, so look at this interesting opportunity for more information. The deadline to apply is December 31, 2018.

  • Student is interested in designing and building things

Final Fantasy Fan Scholarship ($1,000) - Due December 15, 2018

The Final Fantasy Fan Scholarship is a highly competitive award for high school and college students who enjoy the Final Fantasy game franchise. You have invested many hours in the world of Final Fantasy, and how you have the opportunity for Final Fantasy to invest in your world! Checkout the scholarship opportunity available. One winner will be awarded $1,000. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2018.


  • Student must be in high school or college AND enjoy the Final Fantasy game franchise

Foot Locker Scholar Athletes ($20,000) - Due December 14, 2018

Foot Locker is looking for students that embody good sportsmanship and strong moral character. Students should also be passionate and committed to empowering the community in which he/she lives, and be a confident and enthusiastic about being a leader. If you have these qualities, then consider applying for the Foot Locker Scholar Athletes scholarship. Twenty awards for $20,000 will be awarded. The deadline to apply is December 14, 2018.


  • Student must be entering a four-year college in the Fall of 2019
  • Student must be currently involved in high school sports, intramural sports, or community-based sports
  • Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Science Ambassador Scholarship ($40,000) - Due December 11, 2018

The Science Ambassador Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship for a woman in science, technology, engineering, or math. There is one award for $40,000. The deadline to apply is December 11, 2018.

  • Student must attend a school in the United States

High school seniors are invited to apply to receive up to $50,000 in scholarship awards for the 2019-2020 school year!

Seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale to be eligible, and must be active in their community through volunteering, sports, clubs and/or religious organizations.
